Home Participants How To Use 3D PDF Cases
The Portable Document Format (PDF) is the most commonly used digital file format for academic and scientific electronic publications. Three-dimensional (3D) models can be embedded within PDF files since version 1.6.
Anatomical structures represented by three-dimensional models produced by segmentations from Computed Tomography cross-section images are embedded in PDF files with the use of professional softwares for a long time.
Thanks to their small size, these PDF files can be easily transferred online and easily run with Adobe Acrobat Reader which is available for free on every computer (or easily available) without requiring specific hardware.
With 3D PDF, it is possible to navigate freely on the anatomical structure under user control and to view the interior details of the structure by taking sections at the desired level or angle. Three-dimensional contents embedded in 3D PDF files offer unprecedented new opportunities to present anatomical information in terms of quality, flexibility and convenience compared to multimedia and specialized 3D software.
Using 3D PDF requires no special training. However, a few user instructions are provided on the How to use 3D PDF page.
This atlas project was created by the Cardiac imaging group of the Turkish Society of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery to fill an important gap in the field. We would like to thank all the participants who supported the project.
